DIY Sugar Scrub Kit

This is a DIY luxury of luxuries, and was created by our founder, Leann, as a way to remedy an extremely rare skin disorder called aquagenic urticaria, essentially she is allergic to water. Learn more below. It is an allergy to water on the surface of the skin. Have you ever run your fingers through organic sugar scrub mix? Oh my! We have only the finest organic ingredients in our blends, and leave the fun parts up to you! Starting with our base sugar-oil mixture, add the skin soothing organic aloe blend, mix in your favorite colors, then add your favorite essential oils. Mix and match your colors and oils, or keep them separate. Keep or give as gifts (or both!) Mix  blends for all jars at the same time, or one at a time, when you’re ready for your next jar! Then take a long leisurely shower and scoop some into your hands with the wooden spoon and enjoy the feel of this most luxurious exfoliator.

We consider our sugar scrubs an act of humanity – they are created by hand using only top quality organic ingredients including natural sugars, aloe, vitamins and essential oils. Our kits include pigments, but if these irritate your skin, don’t use them. If you have an allergy or reaction to any essential oil, please let us know and we will be sure to substitute for a different scent. If you cannot tolerate ANY pigments or  essential oils, let us know, and we’ll accomodate by doing something special for you. We can do this because we’re not a factory. We fill every order by hand.

A Personal Story About our Sugar Scrubs

While make no medical claims of any kind, we do have a personal story to share about this product, specifically why it was developed in the first place.

Our founder, Leann Schmidt, created this blend for herself to soothe an extremely rare condition called aquagenic urticaria. In plain English, this is a condition where hives develop rapidly after the skin comes in contact with water, regardless of its temperature or origin (rain, showers, pools, ocean, rivers, lakes – even sweat!)

With a disorder so rare that few studies could be conducted due to lack of participants (there are approximately 50 documented cases worldwide), it is no small wonder that Leann’s BFF has this exact same condition. Of course, this is NOT something you wish on your BFF – you only wish to help her! And that is exactly what Leann set out to do.

Leann and her BFF have both been treated daily with antihistamine medication for more than 20 years. Yet even with medication, both women experienced dry, terribly itchy skin. Our scrubs were created to soothe our own skin, and that is what we have accomplished with these amazing sugar scrubs. We tested every ingredient on ourselves, because it was for ourselves – at least it was initially. The good news is you don’t have to have this super rare skin disorder to appreciate our organic sugar scrubs – we shared them with other family and friends, and then the requests started pouring in! Our skin has never looked or felt better – polished and glowy, soft and hydrated, but not itchy. The art is in the mix, the luxury is unmistakable.
